People say, “Write what you know.” So, should an author who writes about aliens be an alien or know aliens? Probably. It’s not as hard as it sounds. Is the author from another country or a minority group—or know someone who is? An outcast at school? Or at work? Or in life? Does he or she have trouble making friends or fitting in—or know someone who does? Aliens come in many forms. Some of them are authors.

This particular author has tried various ways of making a living, most of them education-related: teaching, writing curriculum, writing nonfiction science books. But writing fiction is by far the most rewarding!
